Issues with inserting a photo via URL

  Dear wordpress community,

  I’ve been trying to post some pictures from an URL but it doesn’t seem to work. I’ve uploaded the photos to different sites, but it still doesn’t work.

  One is from photobucket: http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd284/tiagodefreitas/High%20Line/P1130221.jpg

  And the other is from flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/flyingincircles/7987102797/.

  I usually use photobucket and it’s the first time there is an issue. Could you please help me with this? Many thanks.

  The first URL gives a Not Found response.
  The second URL isn’t an image URL, it’s the URL of a webpage. The image URL is this:
  http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8034/7987102797_28f4f00ffc_z.jpg

  But why are you trying to use this method? Uploading the images to your blog instead of inserting images hosted elsewhere is better (for a variety of reasons).

  I was doing it mostly not to have to buy extra library space, but I’ve decided to change that now.

  You’re welcome.
  If you upload suitably sized images (resolution 72 and pixel width no larger than the maximum for the theme you’re using), the 3GB of free space you’ve got are enough for many thousands of images.

  File size is the key. Shoot for 100Kb or less per image.
