    Good day

I currently have a wordpress.com blog, after obtaining wordpress hosting through domains.co.za, I realized that I can only use my hosting on wordpress.org. My hosting provider installed and set up my wordpress for me, when I try to login through my hosting provider, I keep getting an error message that reads ‘We couldn’t find what you were looking for. If this is the place you’re trying to go, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help’.

Also, the URL on the page that displays that message is: https://bebrandique.com/sapp-wp-signon.php?pass=ptajxrhovmcegypou9tawetmwhswweth.

Please tell me what I’m doing wrong and how to fix it? I have two other sites that are going to need the same attention.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Perhaps you still have nameservers pointing to WordPress.com? You need to contact your host to make sure the nameservers are theirs. Then export the content of your WordPress.com site to your new site.

PS: I’m curious why you no longer wanted to continue at WordPress.com and opted for a more complicated process of running a site.

It looks like you are using domain masking so that typing your .com domain sends people to the WordPress.com site. Doing that makes me wonder why you wanted the .com domain at all. For the .com domain to display for people in browsers you need to either host your site at your new host (by exporting content as mentioned earlier) or move back here at WordPress.com connecting your domain with a paid plan.

Good day @themagicrobot , your reply is much appreciated, I will contact my host as advised.

I actually didn’t want to move from WordPress.com, it made my life much easier. However being a start up blogger with 3 blogs that needed a hosting plan, I found that it was way more affordable for me to purchase hosting for all 3 sites from the hosting service provider that I am currently using. I only realized after obtaining the hosting plan that it was going to be much more complicated than I had imagined.

With the above said, I’m quite big on learning my way around these situations. So this forms part of that process.

    Hi, @bebrandique 👋🏼

@themagicrobot has a good point — your domain is configured to point to your WordPress.com site by using the A records.

I also checked your purchases on WordPress.com and noticed that you used the monthly Personal plan until the end of April when you canceled and refunded the subscription. If you’d like to continue using it, you can renew it by logging in to your WordPress.com account, navigating to Upgrades → Plans, and choosing the Personal plan.

Additionally, you can renew from below:

You will then be able to set your connected domain as a primary site address by following this guide:

    WP
Domains » Set a Primary Address
    in WordPress.com Support
    2 min read
Your primary site address is the domain that people will see in their browser’s address bar when they visit your site. It is the address you use to promote your website. With a WordPress.com plan, you can set a custom domain as the primary site address. Without a paid plan, all custom domain(s) on the site will automatically redirect to your free .wordpress.com or .wpcomstaging.com site address

On the other hand, if you do not want to continue using your WordPress.com site, you will need to change your domain’s DNS configuration and use the DNS records provided by your new hosting provider 😊

You can contact their support for more help properly configuring the domain.

    I hope this helps! 👋🏼
