Issues With Paid Theme + Modifying Theme’s Code
-
Hi, my name is Dylan. Like the title says, I’ve got some issues with a paid theme. I have contacted the author to help, but their solutions are to disable the things that don’t work rather than fix them.
I had to make an admin account for them to work on it directly and I just don’t want to deal with them anymore.
Does anyone here know about coding?
Or is there a better place for me to look for help?
I feel kind of lost as far as coding so maybe I’d be better off finding someone to just work on it for me?
Thanks,
Dylan

Hi there,
Staff is not able to assist with 3rd party themes (such as Interior Designs Pro) since we are not familiar with the code involved. We’re definitely sorry to hear that the theme developer has not been as responsive as you wish however. :(
I’m not sure that I would recommend hiring a developer to assist you with fixes in a case where the theme developers are less than helpful. Out of curiosity, what issues have you had with the site lately and what have their suggested fixes been?
Generally in cases like this where a given theme is not working for you, we recommend trying a different theme and we’re happy to guide you if you wish. It’s not usually necessary to pick a specific theme that is intended for interior design, but instead recommend choosing a theme that has a pleasing appearance to you, and then on top of that you can install plugins to add any additional functionality you might need.
Was there something specific about your current theme that you were drawn to? Do you happen to have any sites that you are drawing inspiration from or trying to emulate?
Thanks for the additional info!

Thank you for the detailed response! I’ve had quite a few issues with that theme, starting with just getting the post type loaded. I wasn’t the only one either, looking at forum posts from others. They didn’t ever offer any suggestions for me to fix anything on my own, they only offered to work on it from their end via admin access to my site.
I think you’re right and I should probably focus on building from a working theme with better support. What I like about the current theme:
The color scheme was already perfect for my business colors.I found it easy to visualize content before I had anything written. (I essentially developed my content based off the theme’s layout.)
I like the responsiveness of the service page ( not sure what to call it but when I hover over each service icon, it reveals a picture. When I hover over the other icons on that page, the color changes from yellow to black.)
I don’t have any inspiration sites in mind, mainly just trying to make something nice looking and that I think/ hope will convert well. And be built with SEO in mind. I don’t know what will convert, just trying to learn really.
I’m open to suggestions for sure! I think I’ll start looking around again. How much of a pain is it going to be, changing themes? I assume I’ll have to re-specify some things such as pictures, but it should mostly be plug-and-play?
Thanks again totoro!

@finerflooringtile Thanks for sharing this helpful information. Taking a look at what we have, I think the theme Munchies might be the closest to what you have now. That said, I think with a little adjustment, any of our Business themes would work for your site.
Using site editing, you can make adjustments to the theme’s look and feel. You can also update the theme styles to fit the color scheme of your business.
Since your pages are using the Elementor page builder, I cannot say for certain what content will transfer over to the new theme. In theory, your page content and design should move over with the theme change. Elementor is a third-party page builder so we are limited in our ability to provide support for it and cannot guarantee what features it supports.
Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any further questions.
