Issues with Thumbnails

I’ve had my WP site for a few years now and the original thumbnail photo I had associated with the site still pops up everywhere. It’s at the top of the tab when I’m in WP and it accompanies every post I publish on Facebook. I’ve changed my Gravatar/profile several times since I first started using this site, but that original photo won’t go away. I’d really like other photos to appear next to my posts so the posts don’t look all the same. Can anyone help me?

We have no control over the images that Twitter, Facebook or any other social networks chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.
