Issues with Twenty Eleven – image pixel size, publicize feature

  • Unknown's avatar

    1.) I am using Theme Twenty Eleven. When I size my photo to be, say, 70%, it reverts back to 100%. It also distorts, or to put it another way, the aspect ratio is not maintained.

    2.) The maximum pixel width size is 584 pixels with the Twenty Eleven Theme. When I go to “Appearances” > “Custom Design”, I am given the opportunity to change the pixel width limit, after which, one presumably hits “preview” (and yes, I know that I cannot permanently change the pixel width limit until I have paid $30, so I am only speaking of the preview). However, when I do this, the pixel width on my photos do not change, but the header photo looks “squished” (it is just as wide, but approximately half its former height). I’d love to know whether this is a malfunction, whether my $30 would actually work, or anything else. To clarify, no matter what I change the pixel count to, the featured photos in the blog do not appear to change width, and the header squishes down as described above.

    3.) The “publicize” feature (Yahoo updates, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) does not work. The blog is posted as usual, but the publicize feature does not work despite being engaged. This worked before, but has stopped working the last several times.

    Thank you very much for any help you can give me!!!! -Ken

    P.S. Macmanx advised that I start a new thread, so this is sort of double-posted. Thanks!!!!!

  • Hi Ken,

    1.) I am using Theme Twenty Eleven. When I size my photo to be, say, 70%, it reverts back to 100%. It also distorts, or to put it another way, the aspect ratio is not maintained

    I just tested this by inserting an image into a blog post and the image resized for me. Can you provide a link to the post on your blog that contains an image that’s not resizing properly? Thanks!

To clarify, no matter what I change the pixel count to, the featured photos in the blog do not appear to change width, and the header squishes down as described above.

    The header height appears squished in the Custom Design preview because you have this Custom CSS in place:

    #branding img {
    height:100px;
    margin-bottom:-7px;
    width:100%;
    }

    That’s setting the height of the header to 100 pixels.

    As for modifying the pixel width limit, changing this value does not change the width existing images and videos in your posts. This applies only to the maximum width of full-size images you insert into your posts in the future. Please see this support document for more information on this.

    3.) The “publicize” feature (Yahoo updates, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) does not work. The blog is posted as usual, but the publicize feature does not work despite being engaged. This worked before, but has stopped working the last several times.

    I visited your Dashboard under Settings > Sharing and your account appears to be disconnected from Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, and all of the other social networking sites. To reconnect to these sites so that you can get Publicize working again, please follow the procedures outlined in this support document.

    I hope this helps!
