Issues with updating account email and website pages

Hi,
I have tried multiple times to update the account email as the previous email is no longer of a current staff member. Every time I have tried to update it, I get a message saying the email change is pending and to look out for an email to confirm the change. Every time I have not received any email. This has been further complicated because I am needing to update a page on the website. I manage to login fine, but when I select a page to edit, a message pops up saying, ‘there has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions’. I have not been able to update the email properly so I am not getting any instructions for how to fix this. But the email of the previous staff member is still accessible and there has not been an email to that address either. Could I please have assistance to resolve?
