Issues With Vimeo Embeding

  Hello, This is my first time posting here. The problem I am having is that my Vimeo video appears to be fixed at a certain height and I can’t get it be taller. I believe this is what is causing my video to have unwanted black side bars. I am just looking for a way to enlarge my video and get the formatting to be the same is it appears on Vimeo. I used the short code with the width and height parameters and that doesn’t seem to help.

  Additional Info:
  I am using the Vostok theme and I have the CSS upgrade so if I need to fix with css that is an option

  My thought is that vimeo is displaying the image at
  video_width” content=”640″
  while the maximum (unaltered width) of Vostok is 520

  but I am no expert at CSS so that might not be useful information…

  Just to be clear you think I need to find a way to change the maximum width for videos of the vostok theme?

  There are millions of wordpress.com bloggers so I sincerely doubt the Theme Team will change the width of a theme to accommodate only one kind of video. The smallest change they make to any theme can cause a furor. Why don’t you simply change to a theme that is wider? See here for choices you can make > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  @zhutton: You want your video with no sidebars. That’s perfectly possible, and normally I would give you the solution. But some of us are very annoyed by WP’s latest invention: a 30-minute block on replies from volunteers so that staff can reply first (as they are purportedly “considering focusing more staff support on the forums”). So you’ll have to wait for a staff reply.

  You may have to wait long.

  I think you may have misunderstood my problem. I am fine with the width of the theme, it is the fact that I can’t get my video to stretch out to the 520 pixels allotted by the theme for content. Instead there are unwanted black bars along the sides of the video which appear to me to be the result of something restricting the videos height. I have tried to enter larger values into the Vimeo short code but have been unable to get any results.
