It appears impossible to re-schedule a posting time

Is it really the case that the only way of immediately posting a new post, which had been scheduled for posting at some time in the future, is to thrash it and start all over again? It sounds insane, but none of the apparent methods of canceling a ‘pending’ status actually work. Even changing the scheduled time to the present time has no effect…

    Hi there,

If you’ve scheduled a post for some time in the future, you can change its status to ‘Publish immediately’ and publish it now instead.

Here’s a video of doing just that:

You can also change the scheduled time to 1 minute into the past, and the post will publish right away with a post time of 1 minute before. (That is, if it is 11:58 and you schedule a post for 11:57, it will post immediately but with a post time 11:57.)

A post will only reach the ‘Pending Review’ status if you’re a Contributor user waiting for an editor to approve it.

Thank you, Alex. Unfortunately the “Publish immediately” simply didn’t work for me. If it happens again I will try the “1 minute before” method.

Can you describe exactly what happens when you select “Publish immediately” and then try to publish the post? That will help us understand what’s going wrong so we can keep troubleshooting the issue for you.
