A week ago all of a sudden it became impossibile to set a double line or carriage return while writing posts, at least with justified paragraphs. I usually split justified paragraphs or groups of with a white line, for the better readingness of the text and I always did a double return at the end of the paragraph, simple as 123…
Now even if I do, after saving something is stripped away and I end up with a big unique block of text, very ugly to me…
I use the rich text editor and went into the code section to see what was wrong. I noticed that before the problem arouse wordpress used the <P align=Justified”> tag, now it uses the <div align=”justified”> one, if you try to insert the former it get stripped away.
Maybe people at wordpress changed something for some reasons and that is ok, but they should give us a way to separate paragraph with a blank line.

It’s happening to me too <div align> instead of <p align> so there is no paragraphing. I use Mozilla… Windows XP

I am having the same problem — just started blogging with WordPress and it seems that if I edit ‘code’ and insert <br> or <P> and then save it is fine but if I go back to edit the document, all those formats are stripped. I may as well go back to Postnuke?

You can always disable the visual editor by going to users > your profile and unchecking “use visual rich text editor.”
If you are using Safari on Mac, the TinyMCE editor that wordpress uses for writing pages and posts is not fully compatible with Safari yet and you will find problems in other areas as well.
I would suggest downloading the Firefox or Camino or Flock browsers as they are the most compatible with wordpress.

Flock: http://www.flock.com/Alternately, you can go to “my profile” in the upper right of your dashboard and uncheck “use visual rich text editor,” click “update profile and then you will be doing all your writing in code view. Some, including myself, find this a little confusing since in addition to the text of your post, you will see all the html code for your formatting.
Another alternative is to use an offline blog editor.
