It has been 24 Hours and my import still has not been loaded

It has been 24+ Hours and my import still has not been loaded. I have spoken to two people who said that they would contact me via email. After initial email contact, I got no response.

I was asked to rate the customer experience but I have not yet as I feel as though maybe there is something wrong on MY part.

How large is the file please? Sometimes the importer gets stuck and we have to ask Staff to reset it.

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Also, note the message on the yellow background at the top of this and every forum thread. Unfortunately, I can do nothing more for you. You will have to be patient while waiting for Staff as they are not likely to respond until after Monday, 1/4 at 9:00 AM EST.

  • Hi there,

I see you have chatted with two staff members over the past few days, and each of them followed up with you via email. If you didn’t receive their emails, they might have landed in the spam folder, or in Gmail’s Social or Updates inbox tabs. Can you please check there and reply to them?

I’m happy to help you here as well, but I have a feeling we will need you to send us your file, and that will have to be done via email.

I see in one of the chats you mention having an XML file and a SQL file. Is the XML file an XML dump of your entire website, or an export file you created under Tools ->Export in your self-hosted site? If it’s a dump file you won’t be able to import it, even if it has the XML extension. In some cases we can convert that file into a workable format, but it doesn’t always work.

If the old site is still online, please try creating an export file under Tools ->Export in the dashboard instead. If you have a lot of content on your site, also please try breaking the import into smaller pieces by using the option to only export posts for a certain time period at a time.

I have also reset your site’s importer, so once you get the correct type of file you can try importing it again.

It is a .xml that I got from the Tools>Import action. 12.9MB. I emailed one of the supporters my .xml but they never responded.

  • I can confirm that we have received your reply. There aren’t many people working this weekend, as support is officially closed for the New Year’s weekend, so please be patient while waiting for them to reply.
