I went through the process of importing from a self-hosted WordPress blog, but things seem stuck. It’s been more than 24 hours and there’s no visible progress.

Hi there, sorry for the inconvenience. I’ve reset the importer so that you can try again. It looks like there was a problem with the file you were trying to import, could you please make sure you export a fresh version before importing again? Let me know how it goes, thanks!

Tried again and it seemed to get farther, but it’s still not completing. I have the same message on my import:
We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed.
I’m exporting from an up-to-date WordPress personal install using the WordPress export tool, and then importing the file into WordPress.com import. Not sure what could be going wrong. Is it possible the file is too big? Should I try to break it into pieces?

Size of the import files have been a problem in the past – how large is the file?
Sorry can’t remember where people started having import problems. You might look in the WordPress.ORG help forum and see if you can find file size issues there –
