‘It looks like the WordPress site URL is incorrectly configured. Please check it in your widget settings.’
This is what it says on my blog. (mattwilliamsonlive.wordpress.com) What does this mean, and what do I do about it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
That looks to be from the Display Posts widget. Did you follow these directions to set it up? https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/display-wordpress-posts/
-
Thanks, I realized I didn’t actually set anything up at all. Installing Jetpack should solve my problem, shouldn’t it?
-
Jetpack features are already installed on WordPressdotcom and we users cannot add any other plugins.
The Display WordPress Posts widget lets you display up to ten recent posts from another WordPress.com blog, or a self-hosted WordPress site with the Jetpack plugin enabled. The widget displays the title of each post, which links to the full post on the other WordPress site.
What is the URL of the site you are trying to add to that widget?
-
I haven’t actually tried linking any of my posts. Whenever my blog’s link is open anywhere, it displays this, that’s about it.
-
If you don’t want the widget, you can remove it by deleting it from the Sidebar when you are in the Customizer > Widgets.
-
I tried to add the Recent Posts there from Widgets in Customizer, but it still just says it’s incorrectly configured. What do I do?
-
I figured out what went wrong. I’d tried to put a specific blog post’s link in the recent posts bar. Took me a while to realise that you put in the blog link, and WordPress sorts the posts out automatically.
Thanks so much for putting up so patiently with me! -
