It must be easy when you can read the language, PLEASE HELP
-
So I love the template I choose for my blog however I want to make one simple change and do not know where to begin. I bought the css upgrade to play with the template but I have never wrote css and it looks like another language. If anybody could email me the code I need it would be so greatly appreciated. I am simply looking to remove the third column on the main page and replace it with what I have on the bottom. My picture on top, followed by the subscription sign up followed by search. My email address is [Email removed please don’t feed the spam bots. – T3CK]
Thank you for reading my question,Drew

It is very easy to learn. I am 13 and I finally figured out how to do it. If I can do it you can do it. I learned by myself, but you can try w3schools tutorials…

@Drew
You want this: I am simply looking to remove the third column on the main page and replace it with what I have on the bottom. My picture on top, followed by the subscription sign up followed by search.That’s a no go. What you are asking for is “functional change” what CSS editing can change at wordpress.COM is only appearance. We cannot edit the underlying php code and html code in our templates here as they are shared on the same platform. So if you could do what you wanted to then every other wordpress.COM blogger with the same theme ie. sharing the same template would also be changed.

@Drew
This is what wordpress.COM support documentation states:
The Custom CSS Upgrade, however, does NOT grant you the ability to edit the core PHP and HTML template files of any theme. This functionality is only applicable to privately-hosted blogs and sites using the WordPress.org software. If you require this functionality. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/If not being able to do this is a deal breaker for you then you will have to hire a web host and self host your own wordpress install from wordpress.ORG

Time thief,
thank you for the quick response, I think I understand what you are saying. What I am looking to do is edit the current template which if I knew CSS I could. The 3 things I mentioned (my picture, subcription, and search) are all options I choose from the widgets section. The only thing I am trying to do is have the widget section which now is across the bottom by in the third column. Can that be done?
thanks,Drew

If you can not change the structure why does it allow you to start from scratch, is that only the editing of the font and colors?
thanks again,

You may wish to contact staff and ask for your money back. The CSS upgrade is NOT recommended to those who don’t already know CSS.
