It turns out I did not delete the old site although I thought I did.

Hello, I am in a foolish situation. I thought I had deleted my old site and my old account, but now I see my site still exists. I can only guess now what I did wrong. I cannot delete it now, as I have no access to that old site, and the validation information I tried does not work anymore (e.g., the old activation link). Chatting with AI, I received an answer that I could contact the support team and ask to set my site to private. The site I need help with: aijamednestories.wordpress.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi! You’re not foolish at all — this is a situation that happens more often than you’d think, and there is a path forward.
Since you no longer have access to the account that owns aijamednestories.wordpress.com, the first step is to try recovering that account rather than contacting support straight away. Here’s the order I’d recommend:
Step 1 — Try account recovery
Go to this page and enter the email address you used when you originally created the site:
https://wordpress.com/lost-password/
If that email address still exists (even if you rarely use it), a password reset link will be sent there. Once you’re back in, you can delete the site properly from:
Settings → General → scroll to the very bottom → Delete your site permanently -
One more thing — if the email address you used no longer exists at all (e.g. it was a work or school email that’s been deactivated), mention that explicitly to support. They have a separate verification process for exactly that situation.
Hope this gets it sorted quickly — let us know how you get on!
