It won’t let me create a new site for free

Hi. I need your help ASAP. I’ve been trying for the last day and a half to create a new site to my account… just a regular ‘[name].wordpress.com’ I have other free sites, so this is not my first, but nothing seems to work as I attempt to create a new site.
When I go through the sign-up pages, it seems to get stuck on…
‘Step 5 of 6’
…where you’re supposed to:
‘Enter your blog’s name or some keywords that describe it to get started.’
I just want to sign up for a free site, so no plan, but it doesn’t show the regular ‘wordpress.com’ choice AND it won’t let me choose anything that it does display, even if it’s a domain plan. It just refreshes the page every time I try to click any option on the page. Also this error message with a red exclamation point appears at the top of the page:
‘Please enter a site name.’
I mean… I already did that, so what gives?
What the heck is going on here? Please advise…

Perhaps clear your browser cache (or better still try again with a different browser). Don’t choose the first “blog” option. Choose “Business” and at step five when you enter a keyword you’ll see an option for a free site ending in .wordpress.com below the two paid-for options. You might have to experiment adding/removing words/phrases/numbers until you get to an address you’re happy with and then click “select”.

@themagicrobot It still isn’t working.
I changed to a different browser, tried doing the business option instead, when I tried to click on the free domain it provided from the choices: “[name].home.blog” (I think it was??) the page refreshed again and the same message appeared. When I tried clicking on it again, it took me to a page where it wanted me to purchase a plan for either $3, $6, $12 monthly whatever.
I honestly think something is wrong with your site at this point….

This is a screenshot of what happens no matter what I click on…
It literally will not allow me to do anything. I have tried using another computer, clearing the cache on this computer’s browser, using a different browser, etc. Nothing is working.
Can someone help me, PLEASE????

Have you tried clicking “start with free site” at the top of that page 6. Then your free site will be created.

I was having the same problem. Go back a few steps to where it asks what kind of site you want and instead of selecting blog, select business. Then the first one in the list below the 2 suggested paid options was the xxxxx.wordpress.com for free

@themagicrobot Tried all that. It literally won’t let me move from that page. Anything I click just refreshes the page and either keeps me on page 6 or sends me back to page 5 for some reason.
