Italics Not Working on WordPress Blog Posts

Hi, Bold works, but italics haven’t been working for years. I even tried adding the code manually through text editor, but italics still won’t show up. Is there anything I can do besides clicking on the italics button in editor, or adding the code word? Thanks so much for your time!
