Italics show as boldface.
-
When I make a post to bourgeononline.com italics show as bold italic. We are a publishing site and it looks unprofessional. Can we get some help to fix this. For context, I am using the block editor and when I change a word or phrase to italic I only press italic and not bold on the formatting paletts.

Hi there!
We are unable to help because we don’t host your site directly on our WordPress.com managed hosting. Instead, your site is hosted with a different provider on a separate host, and we’re unable to access your site’s backend to take a closer look.
The good news is that because your host uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com), help is available at the community forums here:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
The folks in the open-source forum are more familiar with these issues and are in the best position to help.
You’ll likely need to investigate your theme’s CSS files to see if there’s specific CSS for italics. Or, investigate the font files that are specified in your CSS to make sure that the italic weight of Roboto matches the weight of your regular text as the Google Font file shows multiple different weights for that font.
I hope this points you in the right direction.
