Italics that look like bold?
-
Hi there,
On my blog, when I use the tag it looks, on my computer at least, like bold writing (and red!) and not italics.
I find that to make it look like italics, I need to manually go through the HTML code and change every instance of to <i>.
Does anyone know why this is happening? It’s incredibly frustrating.
Thanks so much.

Oh dear, looks like it formatted my post for me!
The post is about the < em > tag looking bold and red on my blog, as opposed to the < i > tag, which I need to change of the em’s to.
Thanks.

Sorry, here you go: http://theatargh.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/review-of-woyzeck-malthouse-theatre/
This appears to be happening with all my new posts, from at least a few months ago.
Any suggestions appreciated – thanks.

It’s a quirk of the particular theme (sorry, I had never experimented with that theme in the past). Here’s a similar complaint dating from 2007:
You could say it’s ok in theory, since “em” literally means emphasis, not necessarily italics, but it’s so unorthodox that personally I find it simply stupid.
You might care to send a request to Support. (But a theme feature is not very likely to get changed if it’s not a manifest malfunction: what is annoying to you may be a feature others have liked and taken into consideration when choosing a theme for their blog.)
