Items disappear from right sidebar

I am having trouble with my sidebar on the right. Today my “About” page simply disappeared — if I go into my dashboard I can retrieve it, it still exists, but it doesn’t show up on my homepage. How do I make it appear? FYI, it disappeared after I tried adding a sub-page to my “About” page. Also, I was adding some links (via the Links widget in dashboard) and they do not appear in my sidebar either. Am I misunderstanding links entirely? (Basically, I wanted to populate my sidebar with a list of other websites that I like, and thought the links widget was for this purpose.)

Please provide the URL of your blog when you ask a question (or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky “8 Things to Know”). We get a lot of wrong visits, so first we need to make sure it’s a wp.COM blog (our answers may not apply to wp.ORG blogs, and they’ve got their own separate forum). Second, we often need to check things in the blog itself to find out what the problem is or which solution will do. And we’re not obliged to try and see if your nick is also your blog name, as I did.

At the moment you don’t seem to have the Pages and the Links widgets added (Appearance > Widgets).

my apologies. My wordpress blog is Meatyard.com. I thought I had added the links widget, but could not get it to function properly. I will try again, and also add the page widget.

No apologies needed – just wanted you to know what’s best here and why.

You’ve got nothing more to do with the links widget once you add it (and click Save Changes). Links themeslves are added or edited in the Links section of the navigation sidebar of your dashboard.
