iTheme2 Sticky posts acting strange

  • Unknown's avatar

I have five posts, each of which is sticky. The rest of my site is pages (it’s a clippings and resume site.)

Each of the sticky posts has a featured image. The slider bar is working fine; the featured image for each sticky post appears on it.

I have set the Reading settings to Static Page, with the Front Page set to my Personal History (the first thing I want prospective clients and employers to see), and the Posts Page is set to Bloggy Posts.

When I click on Bloggy Posts, I get the slider bar with all five of my sticky posts, but I would like to have the actual post that appears be (“Four Reasons not to Hire Me“). I’ve set it as the most recent post, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. For some reason, WordPress (or iTheme2) really, really likes my post “I’ll Impact You!” and insists on making it the default post. (I mean, it’s an all right post, but it’s just not the first one I want people to see when they click on my Bloggy Posts.)

At least, most of the time it puts up this post. Lately it’s taken a shine to “Brown’s B Magazine Promoting Shoes and Illiteracy“.

Sometimes I can get it to put the post I want as the default, but then it rebels and goes back to the Impact post.

Also, I only want one post at a time appearing, so that’s what I’ve set it to in the Reading settings. WordPress (or iTheme2), however, tends to feel differently about the matter and generally displays all the posts.

I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, and have checked the forums and Google for answers.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Okay, and now when I click on Bloggy Posts, I get a “Nothing Found,” even though I haven’t changed anything on the blog since posting my question above.

    This ain’t right.

Here’s more information, should it help.

Screen capture of “Page Screen” showing existence of “Bloggy Posts” — the page that is set for posts.

Screen capture of “Posts Screen” showing that all five posts are “Sticky.”

Screen capture of “Reading Settings” showing that the static pages are set correctly.

Screen capture of home page, showing “Bloggy Posts” in the page menu.

Screen capture of home page showing that the right page is showing up (Personal History).

Screen capture of “Bloggy Posts” page, showing that <i>now</i> nothing is showing up.

And now the image for “I’ll Impact You!” isn’t showing up.

    Can anyone help me? Please?

Okay, that image is back. The rest of the problem remains, however.

    HELLO!…..HEllo..Hello..hello…he…

Okay, given the speed of sound at roughly 1,100 feet per second, I would estimate the nearest wall in this place to be roughly fifty feet away. That’s a big room.

    Big. Empty. Room.

Oh, looky there. Now it’s gone back to not finding anything under Bloggy Posts.

Oh well. Now let’s see, where’s a red queen? There’s got to be a red queen in this deck, why the hell isn’t it showing up?

Excuse me — I’m trying to play a game of …

Oh. Hi. Sorry. You know how it is; Solitaire can be really, really addictive.

Thanks, timethief. I really have tried my best to resolve this problem on my own, and as far as I can see I’ve done everything right (<i>Aha! black four on red five</i>!) I’ve searched forums and blogs for a solution, but it’s got me stumped.

Fact is, I feel a bit humiliated by this. I’ve never been beaten by WordPress before and it sticks in my craw. I prefer working out these things on my own. Still, I guess we all have to ask for help sometime.

    Again, thanks for your response.
