HELP! I am a extremely frustrated! iThemes Security PRO shows I have WP Version 4.9.8 on my website, and I cannot find it anywhere! My live site is actually a subdomain of an old primary site that was deleted. Hosting is with Bluehost.com. The path is my _public.html/ but I have nothing noted after that. How do I find tje outdated WP? My live website at https://chefmichaelscatering.com is running the current version. I cannot find it anywhere and it has been several weeks.
iThemes support has tried to help me, and they cannot find it either. They have gone into my cPanel and File Manager, and don’t know what to tell me. Bluehost is not cooperating; they say they don’t provide WP support.
I am NOT going to hire a developer just to find the flippin’ outdated version of WordPress. Please, can you help me?
Thank you so much for any help you can provide. Frustrated damsel in distress, Judy

  • Hi Judy,

I’m afraid that we won’t be able to help as your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Bluehost.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so we can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You can look for help at the community forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.
