It’s time to find another website host for my blog

This is the last time I am going to put up with this. WordPress has a very annoying issue with NOT saving text I have written, and when I mash the button to publish everything disappears! I just lost 500 words complete with HTML tags and links to supporting articles and it’s gone! This is bullshit and frustrating as hell. I have lost too many posts to this and of course there is no one available to help. WordPress is garbage!

I’d like to trade information. I’m reluctant because I know what it’s like to be angry at wordpress, and I don’t want to make it worse. But if you’re interested, here’s my issue:

When I google my blog name, it takes me to the wordpress forums where people are answering my questions. How embarrassing. Do you know how to fix this?

As for your problem, it’s the kind of thing that can happen on every blog site. So I write my post in a Microsoft Word document (one I keep for all blog posts). I do it this way mostly so I can do a spellcheck. Then I post it.

I’ve never had the copy disappear totally before. Once it left the screen. But it showed up as a draft at the top. I clicked that, and it came right back. If that’s not happening with you, you might consider the document approach.

    Good luck! RR

I think both of you are blaming the wrong cause for your symptoms.

You won’t find yourself on google until you get people to link to your site. Additionally, if you have clicked the box in the admin pane that prevents google from finding your blog, that will also keep google from indexing you.

The problem nike describes could have many different causes–what is your browser? Your operating system? You internet provider?

Also, incredibly cute kitten in your avatar :)

Actually, I did find myself on Google. It’s rather simple. You make the link yourself. It works for all my other blogs, just not that one. WordPress is trying to fix it now.

As for Nike’s problem, your expertise is way over my head on that one. I made the one suggestion I knew.

Thanks anyway, Nike. And again, good luck again! R

The draft saved by WordPress only has the first two sentences, the other 423 words are gone. This happened despite the autosave running. It’s happened several times before and rather than retype the whole thing I give up in disgust. I came here because I was being stalked on my previous blog and I liked the security features WordPress provides, but there is no point to using this website if my stuff is going to disappear when I mash the submit button.

Nike, this happens to everybody sooner or later. You’d think after five times I’d have learned, but I still write posts online and hope for the best. I guess I could write it offline, but living dangerously has its own rewards. :-)
