iTune and post

Is it possible to insert an iTune I’ve purchased into one of my posts? Earlier (2007) replies to a similar question suggested not.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

How did you want to insert it? I believe it would be okay if you converted it into an MP3, hosted it somewhere, and put it in the audio player, but it would NOT be okay to offer it for download, unless you purchased the right to do that. I don’t think itunes offers that option at all, and it would be phenomenally expensive if they did.

It depends on if the file has the embedded digital code to prevent copying and playing on unauthorized devices. Many downloads from iTunes include that, and the music will only play on the computer it was downloaded onto, and to the iPod that it was first downloaded onto. iTunes keeps track of the identification of those and checks each time that someone tries to play the file and if the identification does not match, the file will not play. It has to do with copyright issues in the music industry and Apple originally had to agree to putting in the controls or iTunes never would have happened.

My understanding is that now you can get music from iTunes that does not have the digital locks, but the songs cost more money (which is funneled back to the music companies).

@raincoaster, @thesacredpath. Many thanks for your advice and help. I only want to use the tune as an example of a really good song that relates to my work of telling life stories. It wouldn’t be for download. I’ll play around and see what happens.
