The following is not allowed in WordPress.com blogs:
1. Javascript
<script src="....2. Embeds (used with Flash)
<embed ...3. Objects (also used with Flash)
<object ...More than likely, that widget has one or more of those since that’s the only way to have a dynamic and interactive widget. In that case, you can’t use it. You may, however, put in a request through the Support option on this page to have a WP widget created for it. But, be prepared for it to never happen.

…sigh, we need lots of widgets. like polls. OMG we need polls.

It would be nice if WordPress would have an “approved list” of embed codes and would not strip those out. That would be much simpler than creating a WordPress widget, but you know how it is. New functionality is bottom-rung. So, we’ll go with the standard reply:
If you want functionality beyond what is already here, host your own blog
*sigh*

Isn’t http://www.ilike.com/ the same as this? It’s javascript too and the feature is quite nice. I sent a similar request to last.fm many months ago to have the last.fm player enabled for wp.com users (html/text) but none have replied so far. On the other hand, somethig like http://del.icio.us/help/playtagger is also nice to include in every post.
