  Hello,

  We are a iTunes podcast, using the WordPress domain for our RSS Feed. I have been trying to update our podcast description in iTunes and got in touch with iTunes, who directed me to edit our <itunes:summary> tag as described below:

  The <itunes:summary> tag can be used at the channel and item level. In reviewing your RSS feed it appears you have repeated the channel intended summary text at the item level. To resolve this, update the item level <itunes:summary> tags to your episode summaries.You can also update the channel level <itunes:summary> tag to include the description you included in your email to us.

  I tried to do this for one of our episodes by editing the HTML, but when it loaded on iTunes, the description merely ended up in the episode description. Can you give me instruction on how to change our current podcast description (as opposed to the episode description) in the RSS code? The podcast description that I am trying to replace our current description is the following:

  <Kings Landing is a podcast of commentary and analysis for both HBO’s Game of Thrones and George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Kate and Laurel’s GoT show discussion contain commentary and theories beginning at the end of GoT season six. KL’s ASOIAF pods (Game of Thrones to A Dance With Dragons) break down each book a few chapters at a time, with recaps of (no reading required!), commentary, and speculation.>

  Hi there,

  It looks like the Description is taken from the excerpt field.

  In step 4 of Create a Podcast it says:

  (Optional) Use the post’s excerpt field to provide a description for the episode. If no excerpt is provided, the Podcast Summary (see below) will be used.

  Hi @kingslandingpod,

  Just wanted to add @taniametalli here, if what you’d like to do is editing your Podcast Summary (description) instead, you can do it by following this guide:

  Create a Podcast

  In summary:

  1. From your WP Admin dashboard, go to Settings > Media
  2. Under the Podcasting section, choose your podcast category, our case, we choose Podcasts.
  3. Next fill in the following iTunes fields
     • (other necessary fields)…
     • Podcast summary: Summary of your podcast that will appear in iTunes
     • …
  4. Once configured, save changes.
