    Hi I’ve been charged on my credit card $34 and it’s a free account and I haven’t used it for years??

    It is probably because you had purchased some upgrade previously and it auto-renewed.

    How to turn off auto renew?

    You can turn off automatic renewal for your domain name or plan by choosing the option to cancel on the Purchase page. If your domain name or plan is outside of our refund window then it will stay active until its expiration date and you will not be automatically charged for its renewal.

    re: Cancelling Plans

    You can cancel your plan via Purchases. Click the button to Cancel below the plan details. Follow the prompts to cancel your plan, and be sure to check your email for a link to confirm your cancellation.

    re: Refunds
    WordPress.COM has a 30-day refund policy on all their paid plans, except for Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. The refund period for Guided Transfers ends 30 days after purchase or as soon as your site has been moved, whichever comes first.

    You can still cancel your plans after 30-days but you wont we refunded for your cancellation so it is suggested that you stay on the plan and let it expire.

    NOTE:

    You will be refunded to the same payment method you used for your purchase. After processing, refunds usually take about a week to appear on your statement. For credit card refunds, it may take 5-7 business days to appear on your online bank account or in 1-2 billing statements.

    sophiejayerae – I’ve confirmed that there have not been any upgrades or renewals processed on this user account. Please confirm that the charge is indeed from us, you can do that here: https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/

    You should have received an email notification from us as well before the charge was processed, please try to sign in at WordPress.com using that email address, then go to wordpress.com/me/purchases/ to see if the upgrade is listed on that account.
