I’ve been threatened on my comments board.

By someone who’s been harassing me. It’s a nasty sexual threat, sent solely to try to scare me into closing my blog down.
I’ve already sent a message to support.How long should it take to get a reply? Is there anything else I can do? Is there a way to ban his IP from leaving comments? Can I trace him legally, and will wordpress forward emails to him on my behalf with threats of legal action?

Support usually replies within a few hours at most. They have surely dealt with such matters before and should be able to assist you. In the mean time, hold all comments for moderation. More work for you, but takes care of the spammer.

Don’t ever close your blog. Stay around just to piss him off! Don’t give in and do what he wants. I’m threatened all the time. I either ignore them or mess around with them.
Keep in mind that these types of flame wars generates traffic to your blog. Ban the person and you might alienate others. Some go to sites to just read the comments. I know for a fact that many visit the site I contribute at solely to read the comments of a certain few because they’re insane, crazy, but funny in a weird way. I was banned from a forum last week and many come to my blog now to insult me. lol But unless they are revealing personal information and threatening you in that way, then of course ban them.
But go to Dashboard > Settings > Discussion
Scroll down to Comment Moderation and write in the username, email address, and/or IP number. I believe that will hold that person’s comments in comment moderation until you read them and decide what to do with them.

Or just scold them, abuse them, and whatever.
Or be civil, doing the fashionable thing and type the following:
‘If you bully me, I go tell mummy… your mummy ie.’Alright, just ignore those losers… Simple.

Mine’s a science blog, a name calling war would be a bit out of place. Besides, what he sent is actually pretty prosecutable and gross; and racist as well.
I’ve got him on a comments block now, what I want is wordpress to either block him or forward an email informing him he can expect the cops to be calling soon. I’m not one for warnings.

You need to contact law enforcement. WordPress cannot bring charges since WordPress was not threatened and/or slandered, you were.
Save all comments made by him and any other evidence and turn it over to law enforcement.
