I've enabled excerpts – but can't find the option to display summaries!
-
How do I display excerpts on the homepage or on my posts page? Where is this option?
I don’t want a mile long post taking up the page, as virtually nobody would, but for some reason that isn’t the default setting (I’m hinting strongly to make it this way, since any sane human would prefer their site not be 34 feet long without a “click here to read more” button).
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have no experience with your theme but some do not support excerpts. In this case, you can use the “more” tag in your posts : http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

That’s not appearing with my current theme as an option. The button mentioned in that article doesn’t appear.
I tried other themes and the same issue occurred. There has to be an option in the menu, similar to the mobile option to display summaries instead of full posts…

No, there isn’t.
The “Summary” setting is for your RSS feed, not the display of the site itself. If you want excerpts on the main page, either use a theme that automatically truncates posts, or use the MORE tag http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

If your Write Post page doesn’t have any buttons on top of the Write box, you have a serious problem. Have you tried a browser cache clear? It’s a start.

The appearance of the button seems to have changed but I finally figured this out, thanks primarily to you raincoaster. Thanks and I plan to spend money right now with this Website in your honor.

Hey, don’t bother! I don’t work for WP, I just volunteer here. And I suggest you not spend any money till you’ve been blogging on the site a month and know how it works well enough to know what you need to buy.
