I’ve Remained Patient…but
-
Sirs and Ma’am’s:
What is happening to my magnificent site? I don’t want to be chastised for what’s on topic and what’s not on topic; I’d just like the opportunity to share my blog woes with you.
My main issues are with the template referred to as 3-column ‘Digg 3’ and what’s going on: Two of my pages are so totally messed up that I’m not sure who they belong too! All of my postings appear in different fonts, colors, and especially wherever the text wants to land. Believe me, there are no two day, oh F***it! There are no times when I go to the pages, albeit within minutes or even seconds where something hasn’t changed.
That was of the first part: After some very, very, very cautious editing, with ONE window open and saved, at preview I find that 95% of all material no longer exists. ;(((
None of my rather extensive Gallery or “Media Library” has functioned remotely similar prior to the change-over. I have read everything this site has to offer on Images, adding whatever….but somewhere I’ve yet to find that 1.5G that was in the Media Library is virtually useless UNLESS I go back change the names and reload the image.
Now I’ve outlined two only matters: (1) My pages are ruined! (2) My media library needs handling with kid-gloves. I have yet to upload anything and have it venture on to my blog SITES without copy/pasting the URL of the image into the dialog box which quite openly is a waste time.
I have been supportive, forebearing, and patient. Moreover, I have made it a point of being complimentary and soothing when discussing these issues with any other WP folks. Now I’ve lost information, images, and nothing at: americanage.wordpress.com is the same. Today I had pages relocate on my blog without doing a thing!
And lastly, it’s good…the only thing that hasn’t messed up on americanage.wordpress.com is the home page. Please try and help out.
CHEERS!

Nobody in the forums can help out with theme bug fixes. You will need to contact staff for the big issues.
http://wordpress.com/contact-support/If you want help with a specific page, please give us the link starting with http and we will do what we can, but without it we’re hooped.
-
Direct links, please, straight to the page and starting with http. That makes the links clickable.

Thank you for your expedient response! Here is some information requested:
http://americanage.wordpress.com/just-in
Uneven spacing, different fonts, dysfunctional blockquotes
Disasterous; format=text at 9pt. blockquote text 12 pt.
This page is basically how all should look; however, where are the entries?
If one needed an example of how my pages should look, I humbly suggest that one peruse http://americanage.wordpress.com inasmuch as it has everything the other pages are missing.
Thanking you again in advance for your assistance,
omc

It looks to me as though parts of the text are cut and pasted from elsewhere and that’s causing the formatting to go wonky. Try pasting into the html editor first.
-
To fix the existing entries, use the Clean Up Code icon, the little brush in the advanced toolbar. And do not paste! It always does this kind of thing when you paste from Word or from elsewhere on the web. If you paste it into the HTML editor, though, that strips out the loose tags but keeps the text. Then you just format it as you like.

raincoaster, rosclarke, bubbleonfire:
Thank you all for your assistance, and as always, especially raincoaster, I realize since the switch there have been quite a bit of problems inasmuch as the amount of visits to the forum.
Here is my precise procedure for writing in WordPress and the reasons:
1-I write everything in MS Word, using a table 1×50 and copy/paste from Word to the text editor here at WP, albeit, lately I’ve been using the (paste from) Word icon.
Not to be misunderstood, I have experienced problems not using the Word icon; so I of course came here and was advised to use it; it only costed me 6 months worth of writing…oh well–learning is the important thing right?
2-Everything goes through a super-duper ‘format’ process before it ever gets to WP.
3- What is confusing however, is the idea that on my main (Home) page at American Age very little if anything ever goes haywire. It is only the supplemental pages that suck.
I am so (a) retentive when it comes to my sites; I am a stickler for detail and perfection. Compare with these: http://onemorecup.wordpress.com or http://simpleminds.wordpress.com. Please bear in mind that every formatting procedure, copy/paste from Word, everything is by the book.
Thanx again gang…

Copy/paste from Word is one of the single biggest sources of problems we see. Please, please, do not do this. Do not use Word to format your posts.
If you are most comfortable writing in Word, continue to write in Word, but when you paste, paste into the HTML editor, not the Visual one. That will strip out all the extraneous code that Word sticks in there, and prevent problems. You must then click to the Visual editor and format there.
If you’d like something that works like Word but allows you to format offline and upload pictures automatically and so on, try Windows Live Writer, which is free to download.
