I've screwed up my blog!

I just want to delete every change I’ve made today and start over. I was trying to start a brand new one and instead, it added to my old one. I want it to be completely different.

So, is there a way to import old posts into a new blog?

Yes. Go to Tools -> Export in your WordPress.com dashboard to download an XML file of your blog’s content. This format, which we call WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR, will contain your posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags. See here please export
Then go to Tools -> Import, choose your previous platform and follow the instructions to import that file into the other blog. import

will this also work as a backup? I want to play with my theme but if I make a mistake, still be able to keep all of my content.
And does downloading also preserve the followers & comments?

Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use the Import function in another WordPress installation to import the content from this site.
    Choose what to export

If you want to play with themes and test them out prior to using them on your main blog then I suggest you register another WordPress.com blog and set it up as a mirror blog. If you want to do that thene please here > Every blogger needs a test blog
