Ixion Theme – Adding a site title without it displaying on the homepage
-
Hiya all,
I’m using the Ixion theme.
It uses the site tagline as the text that appears over the homepage image, so I have to have the “Display Site Title and Tagline” selected in the customization.
However, because i’m using a custom logo, I have to leave the site title field blank so that it doesn’t show that next to the logo (which messes up the way the homepage header looks).
Is there a way to add a site title in the CSS so that Google can see it, but so that it doesn’t appear on the homepage?

Howdy Jim!
Could you let us know what your site title and tagline is? Is it possibly “Ad Bell – Excellence in Signage & Display Graphics. Call us today on [number]”? If so, upon searching your specific site on Google, it shows.
Please let us know if this is correct or if it should be displaying something else.

Hiya,
Yes, that is the tagline for the site, but there is currently no Title entered.

James

Hiya James!
Do you have a title entered on your end? If so, what is it?
Also, the link I previously provided sends you to a google search of your specific site. Is that how you wish for it to come out or should it be different?
Please let me know.
Thanks,

Hiya,
No, there is no title entered currently. If I did, it would show on the hompage and I don’t want that.
The text showing in the search results is the tagline. I need a title to be present for SEO purposes, but i don’t want it to display on the homepage.
I thought CSS would be the place to have control over this?

Oh, I see now.
CSS will have control over this; however, you can only edit the CSS if you have a Premium or Business plan.
If you do, you can go to https://wordpress.com/customize > (If applicable) Click your site > Click CSS > Input the CSS below.
@media screen and (min-width: 37.5em) .site-title { display: none; }This will get rid of the title when displayed. If you wish to also get rid of the tagline, please let me know.

Yes, we have the full business plan :-)
Thanks for the code, if i could have the other code you mention, that would be fab!

I’ve used the first code and entered a site title, but it’s displaying it! :-(

Here’s a fixed version!
@media screen and (min-width: 37.5em) .wf-active .site-title { display: none !important; }If that doesn’t work, here’s a backup:
.site-title a { display:none; } -
Yeah, your site looks good now. The media CAN cause that problem sometimes, I apologize.
Has this solved your problem?
-
Yes, I think that’s all good! Won’t know until Google recrawls, but I’m sure it’ll be fine :-) Thanks for your help! :-)

Sounds great! Happy to help my friend! You’re very welcome! Have a great day and happy blogging!
