IXION THEME DISPLAY
-
Hi, when I activate this theme and press customize, the home page looks nothing like the advertised home page. It comes up as ‘My first blog’, rather than a homepage with pictures I can replace with my own. Can anyone help? Jay.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You need to set up a static home page and featured content. The steps required to achieve this can be found in the theme’s documentation at:
https://wordpress.com/theme/ixion
If you still have problems after following the steps in that guide, please let me know :)

Hi thanks, but my only static front page options are ‘about’ or ‘contact’ pages – still nothing looks like the home page advertised? These are also the only ‘posts page’ options. Can you please clarify?

You may create a new page, or as many new pages as you like, as described in the Create a New Page section of the Pages support page.

Most WordPress.com themes require some setup to produce a front page that resembles that of the corresponding demo. As @garysixtyeight indicated, there are instructions for setting up the front page in the Ixion theme guide. The Setting Up Your Front Page section of the Ixion theme guide says:
To set up your homepage, follow these steps:
- Create a page.
- Go to the Customizer’s Static Front Page panel and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.”
- Select the page created in step one as “Front page,” and choose another page as “Posts page” to display your blog posts.
More detailed instructions regarding set the front page to display a static page may be found in the support page Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page).

Thanks, but I followed those instructions. Unfortunately I still can't get it to look like the theme's home page. I've create a new page called HOME. Will add some stuff and see if I can get it looking similar.

Hi – I’ll be happy to lend a hand. Can you let me know which part of the static page you are having difficulty with? It doesn’t look like you’ve managed to get the featured content or recent posts added yet.
-
Hi thanks! Just the three square pictures/links under the main Ixion homepage picture and tagline. I think I have the rest sorted.

the three square pictures/links under the main Ixion homepage picture
Those are featured content posts. The Featured Content section of the Ixion theme guide says:
Featured Content is shown on the front page below the Site Tagline area. To add a post or page to Featured Content, give it the tag “featured,” or another tag of your choosing set from Customize → Featured Content.
Whatever tag you set as the featured content tag at Customize > Featured Content > “Tag name” should be assigned to each of three posts that you want to be displayed as featured content. If you assign that tag to every new post, then the three posts with the most recent publish date will appear as featured content.
Tagline:
The site tagline may be added at Customize > Site Identity > Tagline. Enter (type or paste) your tagline in the “Tagline” box and then click the Save & Publish button. -
Good Morning –
Thank you for the follow up here, musicdoc1 :)
hribern – I can help you set up the featured content section. First, you’ll need to add the posts that you want to have featured there under My Sites > Posts. Let me know once you’ve done that and which posts you wish to display in the featured content section.
-
@livkarkoski,
You’re welcome. : )
However, I hadn’t noticed that the theme guide indicates that either a page or a post may be tagged as featured content. -
Hi, thanks again for your support. I created three test posts and I found the ‘featured content’ section and added a tag. It still is not showing the ‘featured content’ section on the homepage, as per the Ixion theme.
-
HI hribern,
Have you sorted this out?
You have three blog posts featured under your main image now. -
Hi, thanks, the support here is unbelievable! But I set my site as private – so I’m wondering why you can see it? I don’t want anyone to see it until it is completed. Let me know. All the best, Cheers, J.

Hi hribern,
