Jazzinphoto site making false claims about authorship of Thelonious Monk photo

    Jazzinphoto is promoting incorrect information about Lawrence N. Shustak’s photo of Monk, claiming that it is Herb Snitzer’s, and ‘wrongly credited for years’ !!!

    Thelonious Monk

    There were two photographers (Shustak & Snitzer) present at Lincoln Centre, NYC the day the photos of Monk were taken. Shustak slightly to the left of Snitzer, took the ‘iconic’ photo that appears on the Thelonious Monk in Italy LP jacket, and the photo is credited on the jacket itself, by Riverside Records (Shustak worked there for many years in the 1960s). Snitzer’s photo is from a slightly more ‘to-the-right’ perspective, is not cropped as tightly, and is not printed with the same contrast as Shustak’s.

    I would like this libellous material removed as it is promoting false truths about Shustak (and Snitzer).

    I have written comments on this Jazzinphoto site twice clarifying the situation, but as there have been no posts added for some years, the author of the site may not even still be alive? My comments have never made the light of day anyway.

    NB please ignore the generic comment at bottom ‘The blog I need help with is: axemen.org’ — that site while being one of mine, has nothing to do with my problem as stated above re the Jazzinphoto site or blog.
