  what is jet pack and why do I want to update my blog free with jetpack?

  You don’t. Jetpack is a plugin for WordPress.ORG websites to connect them to WordPress.com and give them access to features we have here like WP.com stats, likes, etc. You can’t install plugins on a WordPress.com blog.

  Just out of curiosity, where did you see this message? I can’t recall ever having seen it on my dashboard.
