  Hi, For the past 20 years or so, godaddy has hosted my site, msresa.com. However, I do use a wordpress theme. I am interested in purchasing the $99 video feature in the new jet pack but I am not sure if it means I can no longer be hosted by godaddy. Also, I don’t have the skill to move my site on my own if that is what is needed. Any help and guidance in this area would be greatly appreciated!!! thank you :) Mainly do I have to move my site to wordpress to use the video hosting in jetpack 4.9.

  Hi there,

  Jetpack is a plugin for self-hosted sites using the WordPress.ORG software, and you’re posting in the WordPress.COM forums. The two versions of WordPress are completely separate and different.

  Jetpack is only a plugin. It just adds features to the core WordPress software that’s used to build your site. It doesn’t have any effect on the hosting agreement you have with GoDaddy to host your site’s files on their servers.

  If you buy Jetpack Premium the VideoPress service comes with its own hosting for the video files specifically, but that ONLY pertains to the video files. Your site will still be hosted with GoDaddy.

  Remember if you have questions about a specific WordPress.org plugin, it’s usually best to contact the developers of that plugin directly, or to post in the plugin’s subforum, rather than asking in the general support forum on WordPress.org.
