Jetpack and transferring over likes to my new self hosted site
-
Does anyone know why the wordpress ‘like’ button has not appeared on my new website when I have activated the Jetpack plugin. I am using the Kurama theme. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @bluemist27, I’m seeing a like button here:
http://soberhombre.com/reverse-culture-shock-on-returning-to-the-u-s-from-spain/Can you point us to a page where you’re missing the button?
-
Yea I figured it out by turning it on with jetpack. Thanks
Do you work for wordpress? I dont understand this “support” system its confusing and slow to only work through emails. Is there any way to transfer over my followers from the free wordpress site i had to my new self hosted one? Is the only way to bring over my followers through the $130 guided transfer from WP ?
I already had siteground transfer over everything. But now i may have to wipe it and redo the whole thing just to bring my followers over
Thank you

I do work for WordPress.com, @bluemist27 . You’re in the community forums for users who don’t have upgraded plans here.
Here’s how to transfer your followers on your own; no need to redo anything:
http://jetpack.me/support/subscription-migration-tool/As staff, I can transfer your stats for you if you’d like. Just let us know :)
-
By the way, for help with your own WordPress.org installation, you’ll want to use the community forums there:
https://wordpress.org/supportBut we can assist here with issues related to transferring from our service. Cheers :)
-
Thank you, do you mean combine the stats? Because I did a redirect already so all of them rout to the new site.
How can I check that my followers have been transferred in my dashboard on the new self hosted site? I did it and it said it went through.
-
The thing is I have a new username on my new site as site ground said was mandatory to set up a new site…..
-
@bluemist27 you’ll have a username for your new installation, and you’ll have a username for our services – which include WordPress.com, Jetpack (for your stats), Gravatar, Akismet, etc.
Our logs say your followers were migrated successfully, so you’re good to go there. :)

But I feel as if no one is viewing my posts anymore now on wordpress community when I used to get at least 10 or something visits through wordpress reader.
it must not be linked as strongly now as when I had the free wordpress.com site, because now I am considering scrapping the whole self hosted and going back to a wordpress owned domain because I want visibility of posts for other wordpress users and interaction
What do you think?
-
@bluemist27 Self-hosted sites won’t show up under topics in the reader, but anyone who was following your site will still see it in their reader.

I updated my new premium wordpress.com site (my old site was transcendenceintransit.wordpress.com) and it is now down and has not properly redirected to my new domain of thesoberhombre.com.
I’m not sure if it because I briefly switched the domain name and didn’t officially change it and now it doesn’t update and show the new theme I have installed. Extremely frustrating, if it would take 72 hours to update because I clicked a box that put it back to the old domain and then switched back after 5 seconds

Hi @bluemist27, I see thesoberhombre.com showing a WordPress.com site for one site, and transcendenceintransit.wordpress.com redirects to http://soberhombre.com/ . Both are working for me, but they are separate sites.
What do you have in mind?
-
It works but it doesnt show the new theme i have installed for THEsoberhombre.com I installed the hemingway theme but it doesnt reflect it
-
are you located in germany? Just wondering of the one view I got for thesoberhombre was from you
-
-
Well I need to set one of them to private to avoid duplicate content right?
I just wanted to go back to wprdpress.com becuase i want to have my posts get seen in the topics and reader again
-
@bluemist27, okay. You can go back to WordPress.com.
Instead of making one site private, I recommend mapping the extra domain here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/You already have a plan, so it’s just a matter of adding another domain to it, then updating the domain to point here.
Do you need more help with this?

Hi, I’m also moving to a self-hosted blog and just wanted to ask if it is somehow possible to transfer also the likes you got for your posts?
