“Jetpack can’t communicate with your site”

  • Unknown's avatar

I used to have a site (bernardseditorialservices.com) hosted with Bluehost, but I let it expire. I just restarted the site with a paid WordPress plan, but I’m getting an error: “Jetpack can’t communicate with your site because your site isn’t connected.” I can’t do anything on the site — view my old pages, change settings, uninstall Jetpack (or any other plug-ins)… I tried emailing support but haven’t heard back. Is there anything I can do on my end to fix this issue and start using my site? Additionally, how long does WordPress typically take to respond to support emails?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Check if your site is connected to Jetpack in its settings. Sometimes, disconnecting and reconnecting Jetpack can fix issues.
If you can, go to your site’s settings in Bluehost’s control panel to see if there are any problems affecting Jetpack.
Try clearing your browser’s history and cookies, then log back into WordPress to see if that helps.

Hi there, the site address you provided currently leads to a new site on Bluehost, but there is only a temporary splash page there.

These forums you’ve posted to assist site owners hosted on WordPress.com, the hosting provider. We’re not able to assist with sites not hosted here as we don’t have access to the database or files. To learn more about the differences between WordPress.com, where we are, and the open source WordPress software, you might want to read this guide: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/difference-between-wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com/

For help with your Bluehost site, you’ll want to connect with Bluehost’s support directly. If there is an issue with the WordPress software itself, you can reach out to the folks at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting Lastly, for direct assistance with Jetpack with a paid subscription you can reach out to their support at https://jetpack.com/support/ There is also information about your error at https://wordpress.com/support/resolve-jetpack-errors/#not-connected-to-jetpack

    Hope that helps!

I ended up switching to Bluehost not long after my original post because WordPress.com was giving me so many problems. I wasn’t even able to view my site’s settings to try disconnecting/reconnecting Jetpack because of the issue. It had been 4 days since I emailed WordPress support and still never heard back. So I switched to Bluehost. WordPress.com sucks, will never be using them as a host again. ✌️

You weren’t able to view your settings? That sounds weird. Maybe here, a member of staff will see your post and can guide you.

The CSS rule body { margin: 0 auto; } that you’ve added is intended to center the body content and eliminate any default margins by setting them to zero. If you are still encountering issues with a negative margin after trying the solutions you’ve mentioned, you need to look at more specific CSS rules that target the elements causing the issue. You can try to use the browser’s ‘Inspect’ tool (usually accessed by right-clicking on the page and selecting ‘Inspect’) to find the exact CSS rule that’s causing the negative margin. Look for margin or padding properties on the body or parent containers that might be set to a negative value.

Whoops, that post was a mistake. I had many tabs open and accidentally posted the message that was meant for another thread here. I wish I could delete or edit this message, but I cannot.
