Jetpack carousel and posts on the front page

Hello everybody,
I am trying to combine the Jetpack carousel and the blog posts on the front page (on the homepage). All the posts one will be able to see in the “News” part. But the beginning of last three post or something like that, already on the front page.
As it is in the example https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/ampersand/.
The Jetpack carousel works, showing the portfolio items of the web-page. But if I write something as a post it shows only the title of it, and the carousel disappears.
In the settings >> readings I have defined the homepage and the posts page (News), but it didn’t help.
And I also can’t see the content of the post.
The template of the News page is “default”, may be I have to choose something else?
I am a bit lost. Thank you for any help!
