Jetpack Connection

My website is offline. I believe jetpack needs to be disconnected in order for me to access my website on mysite and to have people be able to view my site. Why did this happen? Is there a way to prevent this from happening in the future?

  • Hi there,

    Are you speaking of https://www.scottknier.com/?

If I try to view that site in my browser I see an error indicating a problem with SSL on the domain. SSL is what tells your site to load over https instead of http, and has nothing to do with Jetpack.

SSL is configured at your hosting provider, so please contact them for help fixing this.

Exactly the opposite, in fact. Jetpack is what connects your site to your WordPress.com account, and without that connection you cannot view or modify your site via the My Sites dashboard here on WordPress.com.

and to have people be able to view my site

Jetpack has nothing at all to do with whether or not people can view your site. Jetpack adds some extra features to your site, allows you to manage your site via a WordPress.com username account, and allows your site visitors to follow, comment and like posts via a WordPress.com account.
