Jetpack contact form “required field” font-weight issue
-
Hi there,
This is my first post on the forum so please bear with me, I only built my first site a couple of months ago..
The Jetpack contact form on my site displayed perfectly for the first few couple of weeks, but recently I noticed the (required) text is now displaying incorrectly. In other words, when you choose “field is required”, the word (required) should appear to the right of the field name – and in a faint grey color.
When I’m editing the page, the table looks correct:

but the published page always looks like this (all bold text):

I’ve tried everything I can think of to get the (required) text to appear grey, but there doesn’t seem to the option to change the “required field text” font color / appearance etc.
The only option I have left is to turn off the “required field” option, or just delete the (required) text – but I’m really hoping someone else has experienced this issue.
Any help will much appreciated.

Hi there, I have looked at your site, and the “required” text is in a span element in the HTML, so it can be styled separately, but it is set to take on the styling of the parent HTML element, which the the “Your name”, etc., field. This appears to be consistent with the theme and Jetpack design. You say it was alright for the first couple weeks. Was that when you were viewing the actual contact page on the site? I do see that it shows the required text not bold, and grey in the editor.

Thank you very much for your reply. It seems there may be a bug in the contact form when using the blank canvas template which has now been reported. Many thanks again
