Jetpack disappeared

  • Unknown's avatar

My Jetpack disappeared from my dashboard, site, everything! When I try to upload it again, it tells me that I cannot do so, and gives me this location: /home/content/43/8033043/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/

I would like to reinstall and be able to use the Jetpack. Please help!

  • When you reinstall it what steps are you taking? You should be able to reinstall Jetpack by heading to Plugins > Add New and searching for “Jetpack”

That will give you the option to install the plugin and, once installed, you can activate it and connect to WordPress.com.

If you are not able to do that can you please post the full error message that you are running into here? Thank you.

    Hi Andrew,

Yes, you described the steps that I am taking. Here is the error message I get:

    Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/jetpack.1.2.1.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/43/8033043/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/

    Plugin install failed.

Thanks for your help with this! I sure appreciate it!

    Hi there,

Could you go to your Plugins -> Installed Plugins directory, and try deleting Jetpack from there?

Otherwise, you could delete the /jetpack/ directory in your plugins folder.

Once you do so, you can install Jetpack at Plugins -> Add New, or by manually downloading and installing it:

    Hi Chris!

Sorry for the delay in responding! Unfortunately, the Jetpack is not showing in the Plugins (not in All, not in Active, not in Inactive). When I try to upload it directly, through the Upload option, it hangs- but I don’t think I am uploading it properly, really. It says there should be a .zip file, but the one that downloads (the folder) is a folder, but that doesn’t seem to have the ‘meat and potatoes’ in it – just more folders and files.

    Hmmmm…? Am I missing something?

    Thanks!

  • Can you try installing it by just searching for Jetpack at Plugins -> Add New in your Dashboard?
