jetpack plugin lost all stats and blog subscribers

  • Ok, so you had three different URLs.

That one was for secure.lb-test.local, and it did have quite a few followers, which I have transferred.

Arrggghhhh. Thank you. That’s my test server! it’s a virtual machine.

Ok, here are a couple more URL’s to look for then — other names for the test server:

    lb-test
    lb-test.local

  • No results for those, but it looks like we did find and transfer all of your subscribers from secure.lb-test.local.

    Can you confirm?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, thanks for your persistence. In the admin dashboard right now it is telling me there are 8 subscribers for “Blog” and 1 for “Comments”. However, when I click on Blog, there are a lot more than 8 in there, but less than the full 500+. However, I immediately downloaded the csv for a backup and that has 562 addresses.

So….. I was thinking that maybe I should disconnect and re-connect again to sync the numbers. Does that make sense to you?

  • No, don’t disconnect. It will take some time for the total to update. As long as they’re in the CSV, they’re all there.

    Ok.

THANKS for you help. You have certainly lived up to your title today by engineering my (and my partner’s) happiness after some serious angst.

While I have you on the line… I do want to secure our admin area via SSL and in our setup, the only way I can do that is by running the admin on a different host name. The question is, will this all happen again if we start logging in to the admin via a different host name? Is there anything I can do to make that a rational transition?

Thanks again for all your assistance.

  • You’re welcome!

You shouldn’t need to run your admin from a different hostname. Please see http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Over_SSL and contact http://wordpress.org/support/ if you need any help with that.

You’re right, I shouldn’t have to run the admin from a different hostname, but I am running the site behind cloudflare and they do not handle SSL on their free tier of service. I would have to upgrade and spend some dollars that are currently out of our budget. So the only way to run the admin via SSL is to use a hostname that bypasses cloudflare for the admin.

Anyway, I know all that config is off-topic for you. I’ll bring it up in the support forum for the jetpack plugin. Thanks again.
