Joining wordpress.com without creating a new blog

I’ve just started a private wordpress.com. I’d like to have four authors and about 20 viewers. When my peeps go to sign up, though, they’re forced to create a blog. This freaks them out, and I’m not getting them to join. They don’t want to create a blog. They want to write mine or, in most cases, just read mine. What can I do besides walk each of the twenty-four through it individually (which is enough to make me abandon the project)?

I see that in 2006 wordpress.com started letting people join without starting a blog. Have they gone back to requiring it again?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
