Joomla to WordPress plugin

  hi.
  I’m moving a site from Joomla to WordPress for an organisation. I found this plugin which seems to be exactly what I need. I am completely new to any of this. I have created a new site but I’m just having trouble finding a way to run the plugin, if I can do that, I bet my work is really easy.

  I think you will most likely need to set up a self-hosted WordPress.org install to use that plugin and transfer easily. Here at WordPress.com installing your own plugins isn’t allowed. The only way of importing content into a WordPress.com site is by using an exported xml file. It might be worth checking if you’re able to get one of those at Joomla.

  yeah I figured that since posting this. But I’m having a real problem getting started like, I assume, a lot of people. I’ve got the folder on my computer. I don’t understand all this php and stuff. What’s worse, I don’t even have proper admin access on this computer. Also unsure where I can find the actual Joomla site and its contents so yeah, I’m on square one still.
  I just need to get wordpress.org running but it’s a mess.
