Jpeg as landing page image

  Hi,

  I would like to add an image (and nothing else) in my landing page (kind of under construction thing, till I decide how I would like to build my website). How can I do it? Which one is the home page to edit and how I can delete everything else appearing there?

  2nd question, is there a way to go to the old wordpress menu? The new one is quite annoying and more difficult to use
