Add topic to favorites
I have a (paid) site on WordPress. I want to back up the database, then junk it and load up a new site and database.

Is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is not possible, no, as we do not provide direct database or FTP access to sites hosted on WordPress.com, regardless of plan.

Also note that for help with your Business Plan site it is better to contact live chat support at https://wordpress.com/help/contact, as the volunteers who help free users in this forum do not have access to the internal tools needed to help with the advanced features of your site.

@davehodg111217 are you hoping to to get rid of the posts, pages, comments, media, plugins, theme, theme settings, site name, etc?

Or just part of that? If so and you’ll let us know which part, we’ll help you find the best option.

Clearing the database wouldn’t get rid of the plugins and themes. Clearing the entire database would get rid of your account and many other important settings, too.

I’d advise you go ahead and delete any plugins and themes you don’t need (you do need at least one theme, and you do need at least Jetpack since that’s needed for our service).

If you’d like to delete media, posts, pages, comments, etc, there are plugins that can help with that, or if you’ll confirm specifically what you’re hoping to get rid of, I’ll check to see if our admins can help with that.

I contacted our admins and they said that they can clear the following at your request:

– posts
– pages
– comments
– media

Please respond to confirm.

The site has been emptied.

The site will need to pointed to WordPress.com name servers in order for us to continue supporting it with a pending update we have coming. Currently it’s going through CloudFlare.

Done. You should get someone Ux to look at that page. The reversion to WP NS servers wasn’t obvious. (To me).

And we’ve also let our admins know your site is pointed back at our servers and ready to have its posts, pages, media, and comments deleted.
