Junk code appearing at the top of newly published posts

For the past couple of weeks, I have been getting random lines of junk code at the start of my blog posts. I have no idea why it is appearing.

When I edit the post and delete it, the code disappears. However, this is obviously not a good solution when I want to write blog posts in advance and schedule them for early the following morning. If I do this, the first 10-15 lines of the blog post are random meaningless letters and numbers.

Also, when I place links for the (clean) blog posts on facebook, the junk code still appears on the facebook post.

Whenever this happens, the quotation function in the formatting menu won’t work – the text won’t indent properly.

Thank you for any help you can give.

    Hey Patrick,

Thanks for reaching out to us for assistance on this issue. I’m sorry that you’re running into this issue.

To move this forward, could you link us to an affected post please? Even if it’s a test post marked as private, that would be very helpful

    Cheers!

    Thanks for the fast response.

Here is as typical example – it is a private post.

I have also tried to indent the text in red as as quotation, but the quotation component didn’t work as you can see. If I went back and edited the post by deleting the junk and and reformatting for quotation, it would probably work.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hey Patrick,

    We’re here to help :)

I have a suspicion about what’s going on here. Could I ask if you’re copy/pasting your content into the post editor? If so, which program are you pasting in from?

    Cheers!

I copy and paste from Microsoft Word. However, I have been doing this for a long time without problems – these difficulties have only arisen in the last few weeks.

    Hey Patrick,

Understood, I just wanted to validate that these junk characters are related to copy/paste. There are a few things which could have changed in the last few weeks – browser version, MS word updates, maybe something on our side.

I’m going to ping development and see how best to move forward on this. I’ll keep you in the loop.

    Cheers!

    Hey Patrick,

Sorry to bother you again, however could you confirm how you’re pasting the data into the editor? Are you using the Paste From Word feature? It’s located in “Show Kitchen Sink” (Alt + Shift + Z), then “Paste From Word”?

    Cheers!

No, never heard of that! I just highlight in word, click into the data editor, right click the mouse and then paste.

    Hey Patrick,

Thank you for the update! Could you use this feature in the future please, to avoid these junk characters at the start of your posts?

    Cheers!
