Just another Gallery question
-
I hate to be so stupid but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to create a gallery. I’ve read all the posts that search turns up on gallery but they all talk about adding a gallery to a post. I have the images in my library but now Ineed to know how to create a the gallery. Or, is ‘Gallery’ a plug-in that I must get somewhere? Help!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you upload images to a post, they are automatically attached to that post. To insert those pictures, go to “Add an Image” then choose “Gallery.” The images attached to that post will automatically be displayed in a gallery.
Note that you will see only a picture of a camera unless you save the draft of the post and preview (or publish the post).
If you have images that are not attached to your post, then you will have use the ID# to put them into your post:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/adding-images-from-a-media-library-to-an-existing-gallery?replies=4#post-381161If the pictures are not attached to any post (if you uploaded them directly to the media library), then you will have to insert them one by one into your new post. They will then be attached to that new post. (You can delete the delete the pictures once they are attached to the post)
Then you can use [gallery] to have them display as a gallery.

1tess and justjennifer. Thank you so much for the responses but my problem is this: I have no ‘gallery’ tab to click on. I’ve read the information at both of the above links but invariably I’m told to click on the gallery tab which is non existent.

You have to attach the images to the post before you will see all the buttons in the pop-up window. That is what I was trying to explain.
* From Computer * From URL* Gallery (1) * Media Library
The above shows that I have I picture attached to my post.
To quote myself:
“If the pictures are not attached to any post (if you uploaded them directly to the media library), then you will have to insert them one by one into your new post. They will then be attached to that new post. (You can delete the delete the pictures once they are attached to the post)Then you can use [gallery] to have them display as a gallery.”

Actually 1tess, if you uploaded the images directly in the Media Library (Add new media), and the images are unattached, you can simply attach them to the relevant Post/Page in the Media Library. http://support.wordpress.com/media/unattached-files/
@thepictureguy if the Gallery tab doesn’t appear after you upload your photos in your Post or Page, try hitting the “Save all changes” or another Tab, like “Media Library” to force refresh the Image uploader window.
Sorry, can’t write more now, too wacked from tiredness.

Ok, folks. I finally have a ‘gallery’ tab on one of my posts. Now to head back to the FAQ. And learn more about the WP ‘gallery’ function. Doesn’t appear to work like I need it to. If anyone has some links to WP blogs that use ‘gallery’ I’d appreciate looking at them.

@thepictureguy, Since I don’t think you’ve actually mentioned yet how you need the Gallery function to work, it might help if you did. :) If you need examples, I’ve got plenty posted on my gammagirl blog, which I linked to above.
@1tess- :)
