Just curous: do famous corporate users (e.g. Time and CNN) use wordpress.com?
-
Yes, WordPress rocks. I’ve used it at .com and with .org software on a private site. My current main squeeze is the latter, because it costs less.
Just curious. I saw on the WordPress.com pages, boasts about customers like Time and CNN. Do such folks host at WordPress.com? Or do they gravitate toward private hosting with their own copies of the WordPress software (WordPress.org)?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

yes Time & CNN are some of the minor sites that WordPress.COM hosts – a note however – they are in the VIP program which I think starts around $20,000/yr and you need to interview to get into the program
But yes some heavyweights are here – your site is in good company

Here’s a list of some of the “bigger” clients by the way: https://vip.wordpress.com/clients/
And some case studies if you’re interested in seeing how certain companies from various sectors use WP: https://vip.wordpress.com/spotlight/
Cool stuff!

also NOAA has a standard site here as does the state of Washington – no domain mapping has the wordpress.com in the address – I think some of them have the CSS upgrade and No Ads – but other than that are plain regular blogs

Ok! (And thanks for the responses, of course.) I don’t quite have $20K a year, nor do my ears have blisters from the outflow of money, but I am most suitably impressed. Way to go, WordPress. (As posted elsewhere, I’ve snagged in a relative, too.)

N.b., for awhile, I also carried here all the upgrades: custome theme, CSS, domain mapping, no ads. The *only* reason I went with private hosting was that I’m miserly. My free blog here is a shell of its former self…
