Just need to Map an existing domain-Why should i buy a premium plan?

  Dear support team,
  I m trying to map an existing domain to a new blog. However i am prompt to purchase also a premium upgrade. Is it necessary? How can i avoid this? i dont need a premium upgrade for the time being. Thank you in advance!

  To map a domain you need to purchase an upgraded plan, but the Personal plan will suffice. Once you’ve upgraded to the Personal plan you can use the domain credit you will be provided with to map a domain you already own. https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
